Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Solid food, light in taste and served in a timely manner. We went here for a short dinner. Everything looked great and felt fresh. The taste isn’t too strong and could’ve be better seasoned. The drinks have been good and the staff is nice. As they offer a lot of different food, it’s best to go for something based on their recommendations to get best choices."
"One of the best presentations of Schäufele I’ve had in Germany. They serve the delicious gravy in a separate jug, the pork skin is perfectly crispy, and the meat is incredibly tender. They’re also happy to swap the side dish to suit your preference. I’ve been to this place about three times, and the service has always been outstanding. Also, it is possible to find many different options of specialties"
"It's located in the centre of Dinkelbuhls. There is also a biergarden. The service was excellent, very friendly. The place is nice and the food is good."
"We dinned there a good couple of times during our business trip, I'll start with the good, atmosphere wise and décor wise the place is beautifully done up, totally opposite to the exterior of the building. When it comes to food, sadly I didn't take pictures of all our meals as sometimes we were hungry and just forgot about taking pictures but coming from a country that eats beef every day I can tell you if you want the beef well done, they will never get it, it will always be medium or medium well done. I like mine rare so there was no problem there, but my colleagues had to soldier through theirs or just leave it on the plate as it was too raw for them. The curry wurst had a weird sauce that it didn't fit the "theme" at all. Everything else we had was in the very good section apart from the notes on the beef. Now staff related, here is where we had the not so pleasant experience, I will make a note and say that 3 of the staff members were exceptional, especially the old gentleman that had to endure us most of the nights staying up late. Sadly there were also staff members who shouldn't work in the hospitality sector if they can't be nice, on our first night the waitress was clearly bothered when I asked her to change my order from simple fries to sweet potato ones, while she was taking our orders and continued with the same negative vibe until we left. The same waitress on our last night refused to allow me acess to join the rest of my team who was at the back of the restaurant on the pretext that it's full and that they are not there, even after insisting that I just got off the phone and they told me there is plenty of room, she kept insisting that we cannot go in the back and that once I meet them I have to return and take a table in the front of the restaurant, obviously the older gentleman was there to the rescue and allowed us(myself and my German relatives) to join my coworkers in the back. Overall apart from the 3 staff that we liked everyone else there was finding it hard to be nice, smile or even try to be helpful or speak English. I hope things improve hospitality wise as it's a good place to eat in and have fun after a days work. Will return next time I'm in Dinklesbühl"
"This restaurant is so elegant and romantic! Lots of good food selections. It was busy when we went on a Wednesday but service was still very good. I will be returning to try other menu items. The beergarten in the back was very cute, great vibes with gluhwein! 10/10!!"
"Awesome find for dinner of 5 during Christmas Markets. The food was incredible and had good gluten free options for our daughter who opted for the delicious fish. The service was great and the atmosphere near the roaring fire as it was super cold out made for a special evening. One of the best spots on our tour of markets from Frankfurt to Munich."
"Great location on the main road. The food was very tasty and not extra large portions that you can’t finish."
"Stopped here for lunch one day, totally by chance. The place looks somewhat fancy. I do like the interior style, apart from the blue lights that just gave a strange contrast to the surrounding colors. The menu contained quite a few interesting choices, though I couldn't agree on their value as the prices were quite higher than I expected. Settled for hamburgers, both Classic and Vegetarian, with sides of French fries one of them with white truffles. The meal arrived fast, was enough to fill me up till evening and the taste was up to par with my usual standards. I enjoy good basic food, without fancy ingredient mixes. Staff was welcoming and receptive to our needs. I could understand that German, English and even Italian can be easily handled by the majority of the staff. Overall, a cozy up to date place, in the middle of the town, easily within walking distance from the main church. Good place to rest and recharge during a touristic visit."
